I have been trying so hard to read more when I realized how few books I have read since I've been in college. The only thing that really motivates me is seeing a list and checking things off of it. I started writing down titles of books that I am interested in and keeping track of which ones I've read. So, this is my list since September :

1. Swallows of Kabul - Yasmina Khadra
2. Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
3. The Historian - Elisabeth Kostova
4. Problem From Hell - Samantha Power
5. Girls of Riyadh - Rajaa Alsanea
6. The Hot Zone - Richard Preston
7. The Rape of Nanking - Iris Chang
8. Custer Died For Your Sins - Vine Deloria Jr.

9. God Is Red - Vine Deloria Jr.
10. Orientalism - Edward Said
11. Occidentalism - Ian Buruma, Avishai Margalit
12. Power, Faith, and Fantasy - Michael B. Oren
13. Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami
14. Guns, Germs, and Steel - Jared Diamond
15. Midnight's Children - Salman Rushdie
16. Clash of Fundamentalism - Tariq Ali
17. A People's History of the United States - Howard Zinn
18. Sexual Personae (maybe both books) - Camille Paglia
19. Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein
20. Theory of Religion - Georges Bataille
21. The Jungle - Upton Sinclair
22. Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes - Edith Hamilton
23. The Varieties of Religious Experience - William James
24. The Reluctant Fundamentalism - Mohsin Hamad
25. The Brothers Karamazov - Fyodor Dostoevsky

I've read the first eight, which isn't too bad, I guess. I have to read 10, 11, and 12 for my U.S. and the Middle East class (which I really need to start going to). I guess I'm happy the list is so varied, so I won't get too bored with it. Maybe I'll feel more motivated when I actually do my homework and read those books, so the list will look shorter. lol, yeah right.
